Welcome to my crochet blog! Think of this as a place where friends gather, have a cup of tea and share patterns, tips and fun crochet stuff as we get to know each other better. Visit often and please comment, make suggestions or stop by just to say “hello”.
For my first post I am sharing a basic flower pattern that can be used to decorate many different things. It would look terrific on a beanie, or a scarf or add a pin to the back and pin it on a shawl or coat.
Basic Flower Pattern
• Worsted Weight yarn such as Red Heart Soft
• Hook H/5.00 mm
• Yarn needle for weaving ends
Gauge: Not important for this project
Ch – chain
Dc – double crochet
Hdc – half double crochet
Sc – single crochet
Sl st(s) – slip stitch(es)
St(s) – stitch(es)
Tr – treble crochet
• Start each round in the same stitch as the beginning ch1
• Each round is joined with a slip stitch in the first hdc of the round (not the ch1)
• Number in ( ) at end of round indicates the number of stitches in that round
• Work instructions in [ ] or between *, the designated number of times

The flower is made in two pieces then sewn together.
With the Color 1, ch 4, make 9 dc in 4th ch from hook, join. Fasten off. (10)
Join Color 2, in any stitch, *sc in next st, [hdc, dc, 2 tr, dc, hdc] in next st*, repeat between * to end, join to first sc. Fasten off. (35)
Round 1: With Color 2, ch 4, join with sl st to first ch to form a loop; ch 1, 10 hdc in center loop, join. Round 2: Ch 1, 2hdc in each stitch, join. (20)
Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, [hdc, dc, tr] in next st, [3 tr in next st], [tr, dc, hdc] in next st*, repeat between * to end, join to first sc. (50)
To assemble, place Motif 1 on top of Motif 2 and sew together.
Doesn’t it look terrific on my Basic Beanie? The pattern for the hat is coming soon too!
