Free Crochet Pattern for Pocket Placemat

Pocket Placemat by crochetzone.com 3041

I love a well set table, even for casual outdoor gatherings, however, I hate when the wind blows napkins and other tableware around and onto the ground. This placemat will solve that problem. The patch pocket will keep everything neat, tidy and in place whether you are dining indoors or outdoors.

The center of the placemat is a corner to corner rectangle (I’m fascinated with these corner to corner patterns lately – have you seen my Confetti Blanket yet?). I finished the placemat with a simple herringbone border and patch pocket. You could alternate different colors in the corner to corner section. I think this would be so cute in red and white stripes with a blue patch pocket covered in stars ~ maybe I’ll have to make a set and test it out.

Hi Aimee, Thank you. I guess I should look for comments and read them before I start. Unfortunately, I look for corrections or comments when I run into difficulty. Thank you for creating this pattern. It was interesting starting at a corner and then going kiddie corner. I was going to do 4 of these for my granddaughters bridal shower but will not have time to finish so will postpone for now.

Hi Ruth, I had made corrections to the pattern after Michelle’s note, however, I did miss one instruction. The pattern has been updated on the site now. Please let me know if you are still having trouble.

I have been trying to crochet this pattern today, Sep 22. I have run into the same problem as Michelle’s post dated Aug 6 2015. Is this going to be corrected in the pattern appearing on crochetzone.com? Are there any other issues which need correcting? Thanks for your response.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I was missing a row in the post. I have corrected it, please let me know if you still have trouble.

  5. Please help the Pocket Placemat crochet pattern, row 14 to 19: R14 once you have done the 12x (s st into 3 chain and 3dc) the pattern tells me to turn and sl st into each dc of previous block. But the last block is left loose surely you have to sl st into last 3 chain sp of last block then turn and go back? Then you also cant do the sl st into 3 dc of last block on every row this actually decreases the rows. Is it ever alternate row that one does this?
