I like to add interesting closures to garments and accessories. I’ve used crocheted flowers, brooches and pins, but sometimes it’s nice to have something a little simpler too. For those times, I make what I call a toggle button. Think of a cufflink. The concept is to take one larger button (this will show on the outside of the garment, so you want it to be decorative) and a smaller plain button that will be the “stop” on the inside of the garment (does not have to be decorative). You can use any type of buttons you like. Here are the basic steps to complete the toggle.
